Member, Advisory Board
Sir Al-Nashir Jamal brings extensive senior executive experience to his association with us, along with a belief in helping communities benefit from resource development.
In Canada, he has led economic development agencies in B.C., Yukon, Alberta, Manitoba, and the NWT. He initiated the negotiations for Canada’s first combined land claim and self-government agreement. That provided the enabling environment for Public-Private-Community Partnerships leading to IBAs, the development of Canada’s first-ever entirely Indigenous-owned hydro power project, and the creation of the diamond industry in the Northwest Territories.
Al-Nashir has worked with many governments, multilateral and bilateral organizations, and aid agencies on regional socio-economic development. In recognition of his international work using Diplomacy for Development, he was knighted by the King of Spain, with the prestigious award of Knight Commander of the Order of Civil Merit.
