Eshan Naik is a seasoned policy expert with extensive experience in bridging science and government. He provides strategic advice to help clients maneuver the machinery of government, build partnerships, secure investments and lead national conversations on the future of health and science in Canada.

Eshan played a pivotal role in modernizing Canada’s regulatory framework for innovative drugs and medical devices, and in launching Health Emergency Readiness Canada (HERC). His combination of scientific expertise and political insight has helped life sciences partners, including research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, and non-profit organizations, navigate federal health regulations, shape legislation, and secure funding for both small and large-scale research and development initiatives.

Inside Experience

• Deputy Chief of Staff and Director of Policy to Canada’s Health Minister specializing in national health policy with expertise in biomanufacturing and life sciences strategy,  regulatory health policy (clinical trials, drug approvals, medical devices, natural health products, pesticides, cannabis), health research and pandemic preparedness strategy.

• Led the federal health budget and refocussing government spending exercise (red-tape reduction) pertaining to the Health Portfolio to improve efficiency and find cost savings.
• Delivered the Prime Minister’s legislative agenda with more than 60 government bills and provided strategic advice on matters of cabinet confidence as Director of Policy & Cabinet Affairs to the Government House Leader.
• Worked as an emerging scientific researcher conducting genomic studies at the University of Toronto, fully funded by the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).
