COVID-19 Update for June 16, 2020 – 1:25pm
This afternoon, Premier Doug Ford and Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development Monte McNaughton announced a new toolkit to help employers safely re-open their workplaces.
COVID-19 Safety Plan Guide
The Ontario government released a new safety plan to guide employers on their reopening process. According to Ford, this guide will help employers create a safety plan that works for their individual needs and includes guidelines on face coverings and personal protective equipment that might be needed. UPDATE Saskatchewan’s 2020-21 Budget
Elsewhere in Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan yesterday unveiled its 2020-21 budget. The budget brings a sharp focus on economic recovery from COVID-19, but also a $2.4-billion deficit attributed to recent events. Back in March, with pandemic uncertainty on the rise, Premier Scott Moe’s government introduced spending estimates for the year but no revenue forecasts. Yesterday’s budget is the government’s last before the upcoming fall election.
