COVID-19 Update for June 12, 2020 – 1:45pm
This afternoon, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Minister of Health Christine Elliott announced a new guideline that will allow people to come into close contact with people outside of their household as the majority of the province moves into Stage 2.
Social Circles
Effective immediately, across the province, Ontarians can now enter into close contact with up to 10 chosen people. Starting with people in the shared household, Ontarians can add people to their circle until they reach 10. People should only belong to one circle at a time and maintain physical distancing protocols with everyone else. These measures are distinct from the social gathering guidelines, which still require physical distancing measures to be taken in gatherings of up to 10 people.
Stage 2
As announced Monday, the majority of the province moves into Stage 2 today, allowing hairdressers, restaurants, bars, places of worship and other establishments to open up. You can find the province’s full guide to Stage 2 here.
Positive Trends
The province reported the lowest day-over-day increase in COVID-19 cases in Ontario since March 28, with 182 cases reported from yesterday. Seventeen out of 34 public health units in Ontario reported seeing no new cases and 28 of 34 health units reported five or fewer new cases.
We hope you are finding these COVID-19 updates useful. In addition to trying to keep on top of the fast-changing situation, Enterprise is also working to support local charities during these challenging times. If you are able, your contributions to this effort would be deeply appreciated.
