COVID-19 Update for October 27 2020 – 1:35pm

During his daily briefing, Premier Doug Ford announced funding for new hospital beds across the province.

Building ‘Surge Capacity’

From the William Osler Health System in Brampton, Premier Ford announced $116.5 million to increase hospital capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic, adding 766 beds in hospitals and other health-care settings. These beds are in addition to previous announcements, bringing the total number of new beds during the pandemic to more than 2,250 at 57 facilities across the province.

Ford said these investments are building “critical surge capacity” in Ontario to provide a buffer against increasing COVID-19 cases, and to ensure patients awaiting surgeries and other procedures get the care they require.
