COVID-19 Update for April 13, 2020 – 2:15pm

Ontario Update

Premier Doug Ford began his daily briefing by thanking Alberta for a much-needed donation of vital supplies. The care package from Alberta includes 250,000 N95 masks, 2.5 million procedural masks, 50 million gloves, 87,000 goggles and 50 ventilators.

Deputy Premier and Health Minister Christine Elliott noted that the province is providing same-day deliveries to hospitals and long-term care homes across the province. She acknowledged the good work being done by both Ontario’s manufacturing sector and front-line workers in their efforts to combat the pandemic.

Ontario Legislature Returns Tomorrow

Premier Ford confirmed that the Legislature will be sitting tomorrow. The main focus will be extending the Emergency Act for another 28 days, and introducing a bill consisting of five items – two related to municipal housing and three related to childcare.

Happy Birthday, Christine

In a relatively light-hearted moment, Premier Ford wished Deputy Premier Elliott a Happy Birthday today, then quickly added, “I should say, Happy 30th Birthday.”
