COVID-19 Update for October 7 2020 – 2:00pm
October 7, 2020Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced an additional $176.9 million in funding this year for mental health and addictions services.
Addictions and Mental Health Support
According to the media release, the funding is part of the province’s 10-year investment of $3.8 billion and will “help address urgent gaps in care, enhance access to mental health and addictions services, create new supports and expand programs in several priority areas”.
The priority areas include community-based services in both languages, supportive housing for individuals with serious mental health and addiction challenges, and more hospital in-patient beds for mental health and addiction patients.
