Senior Consultant, Strategic Communications

We’re looking for a senior consultant who is a great communicator, tremendous team leader and who can champion projects from start to finish, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our diverse and ever-growing list of clients. 

Reporting to the Vice-President, Strategic Communications and Corporate Reputation Management, the successful candidate will join a team that specializes in communications planning, private- and public-sector communications, reputation and issues management, digital content strategy and media training for clients that range from advocacy-focused not-for-profits to some of Canada’s largest companies, while working in a wide range of industries and subject matter areas.

The ideal candidate for this position brings 4+ years’ experience working in client-facing roles at communications agencies, or parallel experience working in-company or on political campaigns. You are glued to current events and always seeking the opportunity in each challenge. You have exceptional writing, project management and client relations skills. Proficiency in French is an asset.

Description:

  • Drafting communications products for every phase of client campaigns: 
    • Requests for proposals 
    • Strategic communications plans
    • Executive communications plans 
    • Key messaging documents 
    • News releases 
    • Q&As and more
  • File leadership and management in strategic communications planning and execution support for clients
  • Media and environmental analysis 
  • Writing for a variety of client needs and voices, including earned media, media relations, as well as proposals for new clients or projects
  • Project management and team delegation for key assigned files
  • Strong relationship management and comfort in external-facing roles with clients, understanding their needs and adjusting accordingly
  • Ability to work quickly on tight deadlines
  • Strategic thinking and idea generation in a team setting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field 
  • 4+ years in client facing, agency, government relations, political or similar roles.
  • Experience on political campaigns and/or agency environment is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in corporate environments supporting executive communications, internal communications and/or external communications
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly creative with a keen eye for detail and copy-editing
