Senior Consultant, Public Relations

Calling amazing writers and media wonks – we’re hiring! Enterprise Canada is looking for strategic thinkers and seasoned writers skilled at crafting engaging and persuasive content to help our diverse and growing list of clients meet their goals.

Reporting to the Director, Public Relations and Vice-President, Public Relations, the successful candidate will be joining a team that specializes in communications and media relations planning, proactive and reactive public relations and engagement, and media training for clients that range from advocacy-focused not-for-profits to some of Canada’s largest companies, while working in a wide range of industries and subject matter areas.

The ideal candidate for this position brings 4+ years’ experience working in media, public relations, communications or a related field. They will bring exceptional file management and writing abilities, strong media relations capabilities, strategic thinking, and a client-focused approach to the job, helping us deliver impactful campaigns across a wide array of sectors. Proficiency in French and newsroom experience are highly welcomed.

Location: Toronto or Hamilton, ON

Description:

  • Working hand-in-hand with a diverse array of clients across the lifecycle of their projects, leading on every aspect of their communications needs.
  • Daily file management, leading internal and external teams on project work, understanding their needs and adjusting accordingly.
  • Providing direction on project strategy and tactics, and oversight on product quality.
  • Drafting communications products for every phase of client campaigns: 
    • Requests for Proposals 
    • Strategic communications plans
    • Executive communications plans 
    • Key messaging documents 
    • News releases 
    • Q&As and more
  • Ability to work quickly on tight turnarounds
  • Strategic thinking and idea generation in a team setting

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field 
  • 4+ years working in media, public relations, communications or a related field
  • Proven experience as a professional writer, agency experience is an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Highly creative with a keen eye for detail and copy-editing
