Consultant, Western Canada

Job Description

Our Western Canada team is looking for a highly motivated public affairs consultant to join them in Edmonton. The ideal candidate understands Alberta politics and is eager to build their career in public affairs.

This role offers an opportunity to tackle some of the most pressing and complex issues affecting Canada today. You’ll support our work with multinational corporations, national companies, government bodies, and associations, assisting client file leads in conducting insightful research, developing products and crafting impactful strategic plans that deliver measurable results.

Previous experience in government, politics or the public sector is highly valued, along with a keen interest in the political process.

Location: Edmonton

Core Responsibilities

  • Ability to work on multiple issues simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on current events, politics and public policy issues in Alberta and across Western Canada.
  • Craft and implement strategies for government engagement, public affairs, and advocacy.
  • Prepare top-notch content, including presentations, letters, briefing notes, press releases, digital content and speaking points.
  • Support members of the team to ensure alignment of core goals and objectives on files.
  • Ensure adherence to lobbying and ethics standards for public affairs professionals.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in politics, public policy or communications.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience.
  • A strong understanding of Alberta politics (knowledge of other Western Canadian provinces is an asset) and a keen interest in politics, policy, communications, and social media.
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Attention to detail and excellent command of written and verbal communications.
  • Excellent writing/editing skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex content.
  • Strong social and project management skills, ability to meet deadlines and prioritize deliverables.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
