Enterprise Canada welcomes Emily Haws as Senior Consultant, Public Affairs

Enterprise Canada is pleased to announce the appointment of Emily Haws as Senior Consultant, Public Affairs in Ottawa. A former journalist with nearly a decade of experience covering Canadian federal politics at the highest levels, Emily brings a deep understanding of how issues move through government, how stories are shaped, and how to translate complex policy into clear, compelling narratives for key audiences. 

“Emily’s experience at the centre of Canada’s political and media landscape gives her a unique perspective on how issues evolve and how to communicate them effectively,” said Farees Nathoo, Vice-President, Strategy & Risk at Enterprise Canada. “Her ability to connect policy, politics and media will be an immediate asset to our clients and an excellent addition to our growing team.” 

Before joining Enterprise Canada, Emily reported for The Globe and Mail and CBC News Network’s Power & Politics, where she covered some of the country’s most consequential political moments, from the COVID-19 pandemic to multiple federal elections, alongside daily reporting on budgets, leadership races, and major policy developments. 

She also brings particular expertise in Indigenous and northern issues, informed by her time reporting for CBC North in Iqaluit, and has built a strong network of relationships across Parliament Hill. 

As Senior Consultant, Public Affairs, Emily will support clients with strategic communications, media relations, and public affairs advisory—helping organizations navigate complex policy environments and communicate with clarity and impact. 

Emily was born and raised in North Bay, Ontario and holds a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University.
