Kalvin Reid

Consultant

Kalvin Reid, award winning reporter and Editorial Page Editor of the St. Catharines Standard, has joined Enterprise Canada’s growing St. Catharines office as its newest Consultant.

Kalvin brings almost 15 years of journalism experience to the firm, with the last 12 of that spent in the Niagara region.

He began his career reporting for The Expositor in Brantford, eventually moving to The Simcoe Reformer and then The St. Catharines Standard where he started as a political beat reporter and quickly advanced to become the Editorial Page Editor for the past four years.

A graduate of McMaster University with a degree in Political Science, Kalvin later went on to Sheridan College to receive his Graduate Diploma in Journalism. Kalvin’s writing has earned him Ontario Newspaper Award victories for business writing and municipal affairs coverage, along with two nominations for editorial writing and one for news feature writing.

Along with daily opinion and editorial writing, Kalvin also played a role in every major election from 1997 to 2010 where he reported from the campaign trail, tracking candidates, co-ordinating coverage, editing stories and features, blogging and using social media to engage voters on election night.

Kalvin will be based in Enterprise Canada’s St. Catharines office, formerly OEB, which was founded by Lou Cahill in 1946. OEB was acquired by Enterprise Canada Group in 1999.
