In a lifetime dedicated to public affairs, John Weir set a stellar example. He made a lasting contribution to public affairs in this country and to our firm. In recognition of his achievements, Enterprise Canada has established a John W. Weir Graduate Award of Distinction in Public Policy at the Balsillie School of International Affairs, Wilfrid Laurier University.
Enterprise Canada is proud to help support the rising stars of our industry. We established the Lou Cahill Scholarship in Communications in 2006, which is comprised of a scholarship award and a four-month paid internship in our offices.
The Lou Cahill Scholarship in Communications is awarded annually to a student graduating from Brock University’s communications program who has demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, community involvement and charitable activities – qualities that were so important to Lou throughout his life.
The Scholarship is awarded by the Brock University Senate Committee on Undergraduate Student Affairs, based on the recommendation of the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film. For more information about the scholarship, contact Margaret Martin at 416.586.1474 or email@example.com.

In addition to the Lou Cahill Scholarship in Communications, we have provided scholarship opportunities for students from numerous post-secondary institutions, including Centennial College, Humber College, Seneca College, Ryerson University and the University of Western Ontario. Here’s what some of our recent interns have had to say about their experience at Enterprise Canada:
“My time spent interning at Enterprise Canada was truly enjoyable. The staff and coworkers were very friendly and insightful allowing me to make the best of involvement with the team. Overall, this winter semester was a very enriching and educational experience. I am happy to have had the opportunity to work so closely with such a well established company such as Enterprise Canada. I was assigned various tasks and projects which were challenging and valuable to my learning experience. This was without a doubt a big stepping stone towards my professional career, and I recommend this to any student who wants to learn and apply his or her skills in a professional atmosphere.”

“Enterprise Canada is a great place to work, I’ve learned so much about the people I work with, and the roles they each play in the success and growth of the company. Being a student on the brink of entering a full-time career, Enterprise Canada has opened my eyes to new opportunities and goals which I never thought possible. The working environment is very fast paced, and there are always new projects to tackle forcing me to push my limits and grow as an individual.”

“My internship experience at Enterprise Canada exceeded my expectations. Throughout my internship, I was received as a welcomed member of the team, working closely alongside my colleagues who have helped me develop my skills as a Public Relations Practitioner. While at Enterprise Canada, I’ve been fortunate enough to represent the company at client events like The Drinks Show and the Waterloo Regional Tourism Familiarization Day. I’ve also participated in countless media relations, strategic communications and social media projects for a variety of exciting clients, which has broadened my expertise and interest in different industry sectors. I now feel equipped with valuable experience as I embark on a full-time career in PR.”
